Short answer

"Fake Speedmaster" is the honest term. The words people actually search are replica, rep, super clone, 1:1, AAA+, mirror, and Swiss-made fake. Most of those describe the same thing with different marketing pressure behind them. A few terms that show up in the same search results are not synonyms at all, and mixing them up is how buyers misread a listing before money changes hands.

The synonym list, sorted by what it really means

Terms that mean counterfeit

  • Replica, rep, repp. The generic words. A watch built to imitate an Omega Speedmaster without Omega's authorization.
  • Super clone, 1:1, mirror, AAA+. Grade labels, not certifications. They promise the copy matches the original part for part. In practice they mark a price tier inside the counterfeit market, and nobody audits the claim.
  • Swiss made fake. A contradiction in one phrase. Whatever the listing says, the overwhelming share of counterfeit Speedmasters comes out of Chinese workshops.

Terms that are not synonyms

  • Homage. A legal watch that borrows the look without the branding. No fake logo, no fake caseback.
  • Franken. A genuine watch assembled from mismatched parts, sometimes with a counterfeit dial or caseback bolted onto a real case. The case is real. The rest may not be.
  • Mod. A real Speedmaster changed with aftermarket parts. The base watch is authentic, so the word means the opposite of fake to most collectors.

Why the wording matters when you shop

Listings lean on soft language for a reason. "Homage" moves a counterfeit past a marketplace filter. "Super clone" signals a buyer who already knows the item is not genuine. "Swiss made" gets attached to anything with a printed dial. When a seller writes three of these in one title, I read it as one message: the item is not an Omega, and the seller knows it.

Fast checks on a suspicious Moonwatch

  • Subdials. The Speedmaster Professional layout sits at 3, 6, and 9. Counterfeits built on cheap chronograph movements often shift the spacing or thin the rings.
  • Crystal. The Hesalite version is domed and has a small Omega symbol etched at the center. Flat mineral glass with no etch is a hard stop.
  • Caseback. Genuine Moonwatch backs carry deep engraved text about NASA flight qualification. Shallow laser etching or a printed sticker is a tell.
  • Pushers and crown. Real chronograph pushers engage with a crisp click. Mushy travel, or a seconds hand that ticks once per second, points to quartz.
  • Dial print. Look at the spacing around "PROFESSIONAL" and the logo. Fakes smear here more than anywhere else.

Price and paperwork

A current Moonwatch runs several thousand dollars new, and pre-owned references like the 3570.50.00 hold value in the low four figures. Anything advertised as new in box at a few hundred dollars is counterfeit or stolen, and usually counterfeit. Serial numbers on the case and movement should match, and a service record from an authorized center is worth more than any box or card in the photo.

The legal side in the US

Trafficking in counterfeit goods is a federal crime, and imported fakes get seized and destroyed by Customs. Reselling a fake Speedmaster is the fastest way to turn a bad purchase into a real case. Buying one to wear is a smaller risk with a bigger headache: no service, no parts, and no resale value at all.

What I would do

Get the reference number first, then compare it against Omega's own listing for that model. Ask for a movement photo or a watchmaker's inspection. Meet at a jeweler if the seller is local. If the answer to any of those requests is a story instead of a photo, walk.
